2ND IEEE/IFIP Workshop on Security for Emerging Distributed Network Technologies (DISSECT)

Managing Security of Emerging Networking Paradigms for a Smart and Hyper connected World

Co-located with IEEE/IFIP NOMS 2016
Istanbul, Turkey

A Message from DISSECT 2016 Organizing Co-chairs

Dear authors and attendees,

Welcome to DISSECT 2016, which is being held in conjunction with IEEE/IFIP Network Operations and Management Symposium (NOMS 2016), and welcome to Istanbul, Turkey!

The second edition of DISSECT follows the success of the first one, organized in conjunction with IEEE/IFIP IM 2015 in Ottawa, Canada. This year's edition focuses on the theme "Managing Security of Emerging Networking Paradigms for a Smart and Hyper connected World". In this context, the main workshop goal will be to promote discussions on security issues and challenges arising with the emergence of novel networking technologies and paradigms.

The DISSECT 2016 program brings one poster session and two technical sessions, where nine high-quality research papers will be presented, featuring a special focus on NFV, SDN, and mobile systems. We would like to thank authors for their high quality submissions, and the members of the technical program committee and reviewers, for their effort to provide high quality reviews to submitted papers, so that we could achieve an outstanding program.

We also would like to express our gratitude to Prof. Dr. Alptekin Küpçü (KOÇ University, Turkey), for accepting our invitation to be the keynote speaker. In his talk, Dr. Küpçü will discuss how to securely outsource data to cloud computing environments, key to the success of existing and maturing networking technologies and applications.

We are confident that the presentations and the discussions throughout the keynote and sessions will provide interesting and useful insights into today's security and privacy challenges, making DISSECT 2016 a unique and fruitful experience for authors and attendees!

Yours sincerely,

Carol Fung, Mohamed Faten Zhani, and Weverton Cordeiro
