Towards a secure deployment of Information Centric Networking
April 23rd, 9:30am - 10:30amAbstract: After a full decade of research and development, Information Centric Networking (ICN) is now ready to enter a deployment phase. In this context, several issues have to be addressed to push forward ICN from a network paradigm solely studied and implemented into research testbeds to a fully operational one, deployed by telcos. These are: (1) the cohabitation with IP-based networking stacks, (2) the consideration of well-fitting infrastructure means and (3) the design and implementation of operational security and monitoring tools. In this talk, we present a feedback experience gained by considering Network Function Virtualization as an enabler for Named Data Networking (NDN) deployment. We first present a monitoring plane for NDN security and we show its capability to address two major threats of the ICN paradigm which are the Interest Flooding Attacks and Content Poisoning Attacks. Then, we demonstrate to what extent Management and Orchestration (MANO) components of NFV can be a support to mitigate these attacks by dynamically enforcing security policies.
Biography: Guillaume Doyen has been an associate professor in Troyes University of Technology (UTT), France, since 2006. He is affiliated to the Charles Delaunay institute (ICD - UMR CNRS 6281) where he is the co-chair of the Cyber-Security transversal research project. His current research interest focuses on the design of autonomous management and control solutions applied to the performance and security of content distribution and virtualized environments. He has published more than 50 papers in the network and service management community. As an active member, he is a TPC member of high-venue conferences (e.g. IEEE/IFIP CNSM, IEEE/IFIP IM and NOMS, IFIP AIMS) and a regular reviewer for the top-related journals (e.g. IEEE CommMag, IEEE TNSM, Springer JNSM, Wiley IJNM) and has been a co-chair of several events (e.g. ManSDN/NFV, IFIP AIMS). He has been involved in several research projects (e.g. ANR-Doctor, PIA-Request, ANR-BBNet).
