Call for Papers

The Student Session of the ELA-ES is intended for undergraduates and graduate students willing to present their ongoing research or research proposal to researchers in the Software Engineering community. The format of the Student Session favors extensive interaction amongst its participants, senior researchers attending the ELA-ES school and the invited lecturers. Thus, if you are a student willing to become researcher in the Software Engineering Field, the ELA-ES Student Session is the ideal environment to meet the trendsetters in Software Engineering and also future collaborators. This might figure as a first step towards a collaboration network, which will turn out to be very important for your further career as a researcher.

Eligibility

Participants must be undergraduates or graduate students pursuing M.Sc. or Ph.D. degrees. In this edition of the Student Session, members of the program committee are looking for both mature stage and ongoing research proposals. Submissions can be individual research projects or collaborative research. Nevertheless, the Student Session is meant to be an opportunity for individual students to develop their skills as researchers and to give them an opportunity to showcase their work.

Submission Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit either (i) technical papers: mature stage or ongoing research in advanced stage, to be presented in the oral session; or (ii) position papers: research proposals or ongoing research in initial stage, to be presented in the poster session. We encourage authors to present novel ideas, critique of existing work, and practical studies and experiments related to autonomous software systems. Papers submitted to the oral session may be accepted to be presented as a poster.

Papers should be submitted according to the SBC format. Technical papers should have at least 10 pages and must not exceed 12, and position papers should have at least 2 pages and must not exceed 4. These limits are for A4 pages including all text, references, appendices, and figures. Submitted papers can be written in Portuguese or English and must be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Please follow the guidelines established by the Brazilian Computer Society. Submissions should indicate their eligibility for the best paper and best poster (undergraduate, M.Sc., and Ph.D.) awards.

Submitted papers will be reviewed by 2-3 reviewers. Furthermore, the publication of a paper is subject to the registration of at least one of its authors to present it in the school.
