iStar

i* Workshop

The objective of the workshop is to provide a unique opportunity for researchers in the area to exchange ideas, compare notes, promote interactions, and forge new collaborations. Expected outcomes include the communication of early results and new ideas to fellow researchers for feedback, the identification of the current problems and promising future research directions and the fostering of awareness, collaboration and interoperability in the area of tool development.

Workshop Organizers

Juan Pablo Carvallo is the Executive Director of the Ecuadorian National Research and Education Network (CEDIA) and part time teacher of the Azuay University, Cuenca, Ecuador. He received his PhD in software engineering from the Catalonia Tech University, Barcelona, Spain. His research interests include software quality, software process improvement, hybrid systems architecture and requirements engineering among other. He served as Conference Chair and Program Committee Co-chair in several international conferences, and acted both as reviewer and author of papers in several conferences and journals, including IEEE RE, IEEE Software, Software Process Improvement and Practice, and Journal of Computer Science and Technology. He was the keynote speaker in the Second International iStar Teaching Workshop, collocated with the ER2017 conference.

Lidia López is a Research Fellow at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). She belongs to the Software and Service Engineering research group (GESSI). She received her PhD in 2013 from UPC, Spain. From 2007 to 2012, she worked as an Assistant teacher at the same University. Her research interests is tightly related goal-oriented modeling, concretely to the i* framework. Her thesis defined formally the generalization/specialization construct for i*, her paper “Specialization in i* Strategic Rationale Diagrams” received Best Student Paper Award (ER’12). She is a regular member for the iStar PC from 2011, and also participated in the PC of the iStarT and MReBA i* related workshops. She participated in the PC of international and national conferences such us RCIS, ICSOFT.EA, CIbSE, ICSOFT-EA, TIC.EC, and JISBD. She also collaborated as a reviewer for some international journals (IST, JSS, DKE, IEEE Software, ACI, CyS) and international conferences (ER, RCIS, SAC, EMSSAD, QoSA, ESELAW). She was PC chair for WER 2016, iStar 2016, and iStar 2017. She participated in some research projects related to i* modeling: Managing risks and costs in Open Source Projects (EU FP7, 2012-2015), Definition of the i* format by using the metamodel compiler ADOxx v1.0 (Integrated Action, 2010-2011), Requirement-based production of service-oriented software (Spanish Gov. grant, 2011-2013) and Requirements Engineering for Multi-Stakeholder Distributed Systems (Integrated Action, 2006-2007).

João Pimentel is a Professor at the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE), Brazil. He is an active investigator in the Software Engineering and Requirements Engineering fields, with more than fifty publications in high-quality venues. He has been involved in multiple editions of conferences such as ACM SAC, CAISE, CLEI, CIbSE, IWSSA, QUATIC, RCIS, RE, SBES, SEKE, and WER, either as program committee member or as additional reviewer. Most recently, he was a Program Committee chair of WER 2018. He has participated in some funded research projects related to i* modeling: A Requirements Engineering Framework for the Development of Software Products (CNPq); T echnologies for Software Product Lines (477924/2010-7 MCT/CNPq); and Development of High Quality Adaptive Systems (487129/2013-0 CNPq).
