Palestra com Professor Amara Amara

O Prof. Amara Amara estará no Instituto de Informática no dia 1/10, quinta-feira, apresentando a palestra: “Beyond Bulk MOS transistor: What are the short term alternatives?”, às 10h30 no auditório Prof. José M. V. de Castilho (Auditório Verde), prédio 43424. A entrada é franca.

Palestrante Prof. Amara Amara: Deputy Managing Director, Research and International Cooperation, ISEP, Paris

Abstract: The talk will give first an overview of the limitations of the Bulk MOS transistor as predicted by ITRS. Second different alternatives will be presented such has Double Gate Transistors, FDSOI (Fully Depleted SOI with Vth control) and finally different options of 3D integration. Results of our research in these 3 areas will be presented.

The talk will be concluded by a presentation of our school ISEP, the research activities of our laboratory (LISITE) and our international cooperation.

Short  CV:
Prof. Amara Amara got his Ph.D. in computer science in 1989 and a Master in 1984 in microelectronics and computer science both from Paris VI University (Jussieu). From 1989 to 1992, he was assistant professor developing microelectronics academic programs for the Microelectronic Center of Paris Iles-de-France and took part actively to European Research Projects. In 1992, he joined ISEP (Paris Institute for Electronics) in charge of the microelectronics laboratory where he headed a team involved in High Speed GaAs VLSI circuit design. His current position is Deputy Managing Director in charge of Research and International Cooperation. His research interests are mainly focusing on Low Power circuit design techniques, Design and Technology Interaction for advanced technologies and robust circuits design. Amara is Member of IEEE Circuit And Systems Society Board of Governors, General Vice President of the France IEEE Section since Jan. 2008. From 2000 to 2004 he was Chairman of the IEEE-CAS France Chapter (Recipient of the 2004 Best Chapter of the Year Award and a Certificate of Appreciation from IEEE Regional Activities). He was member of the French CEA (Atomic Energy Agency) Scientific Committee, member of numerous Conference Technical Program Committees and Conference Organizing Committees and member of the Editorial Board of MicroElectronics Journal. Amara is the General Chair of ISCAS 2010 in Paris. He is involved in many research projects at the national and international levels. He published numerous papers in international conferences and journals, he published in 2008 a book on Molecular Electronics and  a book on Double-Gate circuits design in 2009. He is currently adviser of many PhD students.
