I received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Applied Mathematic and the PhD degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1991, 1995 and 2002 respectively. Currently, I am a faculty member in the Intitute of Informatics, UFRGS. From july 2015 to july 2016 I was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania working with Prof. Norman Badler.
My research interests are mainly image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition, particularly image segmentation and filtering, multiscale methods, vision-based, driver support systems, object tracking and event detection of video sequences, multiview stereo matching and view interpolation, and multimodal voice activity detection and sound source localization.
