 | Welcome! Thanks for your visit and interest in my academic career. I am a PhD student, advised by Professors Luciano Paschoal Gaspary and Marinho Pilla Barcellos, at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil.
Here you may find information about my research interests and achievements. Please use the menu above to guide your navigation, and feel free to contact me if you wish further information regarding my activities. |
Research Projects
I have been involved in research projects directly related to distributed systems, content distribution and incentive mechanisms in file sharing communities. A brief description about each of them follows:
- Live Streaming: Design of a robust framework for the next generation of Peer-to-Peer Live Streaming systems;
- Content Pollution and Quality of Downloads: Creation of a novel strategy to avoid downloads of undesirable contents;
- BitTorrent Attacks and Countermeasures: Identification of BitTorrent protocol failures and design of an efficient countermeasures to tackle them;
- Identity Management and Sybil Attacks: Use of adaptive computational puzzles to limit the spread of sybils;
- Resource Allocation and Optimization: Improvement of download quality in swarms through the reallocation of seeders among torrents;
- Incentive Mechanisms in Peer-to-Peer Networks: Creation of mechanisms to incentive the contribution in a repository of torrents;
- Service Management in Grid Computing: Development of a free-to-join Peer-to-Peer grid middleware called OurGrid and an autonomic management system to support its infrastructure.
Hobbies
I spend my spare time reading books, studying languages, and traveling. I love taking pictures and knowing different exotic places. By the way, you can find a small subset of my pictures below.
If I had more time, I would study music theory and try to play harmonica and oboe. Learning about strategies of old wars and cooperation in animal communities also fascinate me.
