Graduate Students under my Supervision

Márcia C. Cera
PhD (2006 – 2010)
Márcia his doing her PhD on the control of the different forms of dynamicity that can be met in a parallel program: at the application level, which can spawn new tasks; at the platform level, where processing units can evolve with time. Márcia’s work is co-supervised by the Prof. Philippe O. A. Navaux (UFRGS) and Olivier Richard (LIG, Grenoble, France).

João Lima
PhD (2010 – 2014)
After his Master, João has started a PhD (in collaboration with the project MOAIS of the LIG on the parallel programming of hybrid architectures, for instance CPUs and GPUs.
More information.
Claudio Schepke
PhD (2008 – 2012)
After his master on the parallelization (with MPI) of a Lattice-Boltzmann method, Claudio has started his PhD on the use of parallel programming models that support the dynamic control of High-Performance Computing applications.

More information.
Guilherme P. Pezzi
Master (2005 – Dec. 2006)
Guilherme has worked on the implementation of Divide and Conquer schemes, with Workstealing, in MPI programs that spawn processes at runtime. He is now beginning a PhD in Nice, France, at the INRIA-Sophia-Antipolis.

João Lima
Master (2007 – 2008)
João is working on the control of the granularity in MPI programs, that create tasks at run-time. They can be mapped either to heavy processes, either to lightweight threads. To that end, he has re-implemented part of MPI_Comm_spawn in MPI-CH.
