||GeoPKDD: Spatio-temporal and geo-referenced data are growing rapidly, because of the
collection of telecom data from mobile phones and other location-aware devices, as well as the daily collection of
transaction data through database systems, network traffic controllers, web servers, sensor networks, and so on.
Concerning this new kind of data, the goal of the GeoPKDD project is to develop theory, techniques, and systems
for geographic knowledge discovery, based on new privacy-preserving methods for extracting knowledge from
large amounts of raw data referenced in space and time.|
GeoPKDD is a European Project supported by the european union. The partners of the project are 8 universities:
KDD-Lab/Italy, Hasselt University/Belgium, WUR/the Netherlands, EPFL/Switzerland, CTI/Greece, UNISAB/Turkey, and FIS/Germany.
More information can be obtained from the
project website www.geopkdd.eu
||GEOSIST: Geographic information system for the Health Department of the State Government of Rio Grande do Sul.
This project had the objective of analysing relationships of specific diseases with environmental accidents and environmental conditions
around residential areas.
The project resulted in a GIS designed with Rational Rose, following the UML notaton, and was implemented in
PostGIS, PostgreSQL, MapServer, with the language Php.
|1999 - 2000
||SIGMODA: The project SIGMODA had the objective to investigate methodologies for geographic database design and modelling
for Geographic Information Systems. One of the results of this project was the object oriented conceptual framework named GeoFrame,
which has evolved to GeoFrame-T, with support to spatio-temporal data modeling. This framework has been the basis of many other
projects in the geographic information context, as for instance, the object oriented conceptual model of the
Brazilian Army (Primeira Divisão de Levantamento do Exército).
|1998 - 1999
||SINPLI: The project SINPLI had the objective to specify techniques based on workflow systems to provide
support for business processes of the Fundação Estadual de Proteção Ambiental of the State of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil.
A workflow information system was developed in order to automate the environmental license process, as well as to increase the
control of environmental protection.
TRANSCOOP: The project TRANSCOOP had the objective to investigate new techniques for
software development based on project management models and cooperative work. One of the results of this project was the
conceptual model TransCoop-M. This model incorporates quality measures according to the ISO/IEC 9126
International standards and CMM (Capability Maturity Model).
