Call for Tutorials – ONTOBRAS 2022

The Seminar on Ontology Research in Brazil (ONTOBRAS) aims to gather the community of researchers and students who investigate the Ontology theme, as well as professionals from the information industry, providing opportunities and a scientific environment to exchange knowledge on theories, methods, languages and tools of ontology engineering and experiences in applications of ontologies in solving diverse problems. The seminar aims to expand and strengthen the Ontology community in Brazil, through the exchange of experiences among researchers, students and professionals, and by encouraging proximity between Academia and Society, allowing cutting-edge solutions designed in these environments to influence real applications in different sectors.

The tutorials of ONTOBRAS 2022 will be short-duration events that will be part of the main program of the Seminar, with the purpose of presenting in practice a theme of interest to the Ontology community, offering the listeners the opportunity to learn about the subject, extract insights to be applied in their research and/or practice, and practice the subject in computational tools (hands-on). Tutorials can be of introductory or advanced level, and should be related to the topics of interest of the event.

We invite the community of researchers and practitioners in Ontology research and practice to propose tutorials to be presented at ONTOBRAS 2022.

Target Audience

The ONTOBRAS 2022 tutorials target undergraduate and graduate students and professionals in the Ontology field or in fields that apply in practice knowledge about Ontologies or related topics.

Selection of proposals

Tutorial proposals should be submitted electronically through the Easychair platform using the following link.

https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=ontobrastutorials202

Tutorial submissions will occur in two phases. In the first phase, a tutorial proposal should be submitted for evaluation. In the second phase, the content of the tutorials selected in the first phase should be submitted (text and slides).

Tutorial proposals for the ONTOBRAS 2022 will be evaluated by members of the evaluation committee, when criteria such as relevance and timeliness of the topic, technical quality of the proposal, and experience of the proponents in the proposed topic and in the area of Ontologies will be considered.

Presentation and publication

The tutorials should last four hours, and should be presented synchronously, by the lecturers designated in the proposal, within the ONTOBRAS 2022 schedule and using the platform defined for the event. The slides presented, if applicable, will be made available to the Ontobras community.

The authors of the selected tutorials will be allowed to produce a chapter for publication in the proceedings of ONTOBRAS 2022. The chapter can be written in Portuguese or (preferably) English and should be between 15 to 30 pages long, following the CEUR-WS template (links available below). Only the selected proposals that have delivered the final version, with the assignment of rights and authorization of publication and access duly completed and signed, and whose tutorials have been presented at the event, will be published.
