Ontology is an interdisciplinary field that studies concepts and theories that provide the foundation for building shared domain conceptualizations. In recent years, we noticed a growing interest in the application of ontologies to solve modeling and classification problems in several areas, such as computer science, information science, philosophy, artificial intelligence, linguistics, knowledge management, semantic web, and others.
The seminar aims to expand and strengthen the community of Ontologies in Brazil, through the exchange of experiences between researchers, students, and professionals, and by encouraging proximity between Academia and Industry, allowing cutting-edge solutions designed in these environments to influence real applications in different sectors.
The Seminar on Ontology Research in Brazil (ONTOBRAS) aims to bring together the community of researchers and students investigating Ontology in Computer Science and Information Science, as well as professionals in the information industry, providing opportunities and a scientific environment to exchange knowledge on theories, methods, languages and tools for ontology engineering and experiences in applying ontologies to solve various problems.
The seminar aims to expand and strengthen the Ontology community in Brazil, through the exchange of experiences among researchers, students and professionals, and by encouraging proximity between Academia and Industry, allowing cutting-edge solutions designed in these environments to influence real applications in different sectors.
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit theoretical, technical, and practical research contributions that directly or indirectly deal with the topics of interest presented in the call for papers. Papers ranging from philosophical and theoretical foundations to new technologies and innovative applications are welcome.
The 15th Seminar on Ontology Research in Brazil (ONTOBRAS 2022) will be ONLINE and FREE on November 22, 23, 24 and 25, 2022.

Submission guidelines
Submissions should be written in ENGLISH (preferred), PORTUGUESE or SPANISH. We encourage authors to submit their papers in ENGLISH so that the papers can reach readers in many different countries. Submissions in PORTUGUESE or SPANISH should have an abstract and keywords in ENGLISH.
All submissions will undergo peer review by experts in the field.
All papers must be original and cannot have been submitted simultaneously to another journal or conference. The following types of papers are welcome (page limits exclude references):
- Full papers (up to 12 pages): High quality papers on a wide range of topics with a focus on consolidated ontology research contributions. They may be even more specialized, theoretical, technical, and practical research contributions that directly or indirectly address or are related to the areas listed below. They may also be papers by advanced students whose dissertations or theses are in final stages and have not been completed at the date of submission, but already show substantial results.
- Short articles (up to 6 pages): These are usually student papers, but not limited to, may discuss new ideas that are in an early stage of development or may report partial results of ongoing research, dissertations, or theses.
Authors should indicate in the submission the type of the paper. Additionally, it is suggested to indicate as a footnote on the first page of the type of the paper.
Submissions should be made via EasyChair using the following URL:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ontobras2022
All submissions should be in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) and should follow the CEUR-ART template, single column. Microsoft Office Word, Open Office and LaTeX templates can be downloaded at:
http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-XXX/CEURART.zip
Os arquivos devem ser anônimos e os trabalhos não devem citar os respectivos nomes dos Projetos e Universidades (revisão às cegas).
Award: The ONTOBRAS Program Committee will select the best full paper to receive the ONTOBRAS 2022 best paper award. In view of the international dissemination of the papers, we recommend that papers be written in English.
The conference proceedings will be published online in the CEUR-WS platform.
