In recent years, we have noticed a growing interest in the application of ontologies to solve modeling and classification problems in several areas, such as Computer Science, Information Science, Philosophy, Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, Knowledge Management, Semantic Web, and others.

The Seminar on Ontology Research in Brazil (ONTOBRAS) aims to bring together the community of researchers and students investigating Ontology in Computer Science and Information Science, as well as professionals in the information industry, providing opportunities and a scientific environment to exchange knowledge on theories, methods, languages and tools for ontology engineering and experiences in applying ontologies to solve various problems.

In its 16th edition, ONTOBRAS 2023 is part of a tradition that comes since 2005 in Brazil, and that was defined by the Brazilian Ontology Community as a unique forum, highly scientifically qualified, for presentation and discussion of ontologies and application cases. The seminar aims to expand and strengthen the Ontology community in Brazil, through the exchange of experiences among researchers, students and professionals, and by encouraging proximity between Academia and Industry, allowing cutting-edge solutions designed in these environments to influence real applications in different sectors.

This year, ONTOBRAS will be held with the 14th International Conference on Biomedical Ontology (ICBO 2023).

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit theoretical, technical, and practical research contributions that directly or indirectly deal with the topics of interest presented in the call for papers.
