It is home to the DCTA (Department of Aerospace Science and Technology), INPE (National Institute for Space Research), Embraer (the country’s main manufacturer of commercial, executive, and military aircraft), in addition to other important centers of education and research, and large companies such as Petrobras, Johnson & Johnson, Ericsson, Phillips, General Motors, Monsanto, IACIT, Panasonic.<\/p>\n

In addition, it has the most advanced technological park in Brazil. The S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 dos Campos Technological Park, which in 2019 already had about 9,000 people working or studying on-site, making it also the largest technological park in Brazil. The S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 dos Campos Technological Park is an initiative to promote science, technology, and innovation, with technological development centers in areas such as energy, ICT, aerospace, defense, health, water resources, and environmental sanitation, in addition to hosting companies in the fields of information and communication technology, electronic instrumentation, geoprocessing, aerospace, defense, space, energy, health, and biomedicine. The park is part of the S\u00e3o Paulo System of Technological Parks and is located in Eug\u00eanio de Melo, a district in the eastern zone of S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 dos Campos. The park has nearly 380 companies and institutions associated with it, including resident companies, incubated and accelerated startups, companies associated with local production arrangements (APLs), science and technology institutes, universities, civil society entities, and technological development centers.<\/p>\n

The municipality of S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 dos Campos is located in the Para\u00edba Paulista Valley, east of the state capital, about 97 km from it.
