The course focus lies in the presentation of current work in a multitude of data science fields, which can be useful for students pursuing varying research fields. The students are expected to conduct a hands-on final project on a topic of choice related to their research interests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CONTE\u00daDO PROGRAM\u00c1TICO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction: Visual Analytics in Data Science<\/li>\n<li>Visual Analytics and Data Science Basics<\/li>\n<li>Tools for Visualization and Data Analysis<\/li>\n<li>Examples of Visual Analytics projects<\/li>\n<li>Study of Visual Analytics in Data Science papers: Clustering Analytics, Text Visual Analytics, Machine Learning Visual Analytics, Healthcare and Biology Visual Analytics, Social Media Visual Analytics, Urban Data Visual Analytics, Sports Visual Analytics, among others.<\/li>\n<li>Final Project Development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>T\u00c9CNICAS DE ENSINO: <\/strong>The course is centered on the presentation of basic concepts of visual analytics and data science, presentation of visual analytics projects, and discussion of current papers describing visual analytics techniques for data science.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CRIT\u00c9RIOS DE AVALIA\u00c7\u00c3O<\/strong>:\u00a0 The course requires that the students actively participate in the discussions in class, present selected, and develop and present a final project describing visual analytics techniques to a data science application.<\/p>\n<p>The final grade is computed as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In-class participation (10%)<\/li>\n<li>Paper presentations (40%)<\/li>\n<li>Final Project (50%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>BIBLIOGRAFIA<\/strong>: The bibliography is composed of papers and textbooks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Papers: State-of-the-art papers in the field of visual analytics for data science, from conferences such as IEEE VISUALIZATION, EUROVIS, KDD, VLDB.<\/li>\n<li>Textbooks:<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visual Analytics for Data Scientists.<\/strong> Andrienko, N.,\u00a0Andrienko, G.,\u00a0Fuchs, G.,\u00a0Slingsby, A.,\u00a0Turkay, C.,\u00a0Wrobel, S.
