First International Workshop on
FPGAs for Aerospace Applications (FASA 2014)
September 5, 2014, Munich, Germany
co-located with
International Conference on Field Programmable Logic
and Applications (FPL)

Programmable devices are very attractive to
aerospace applications due to their high logic integration capability, high
flexibility during the project phase and reconfigurability.
However, FPGAs are fabricated in nanometer technologies and consequently they
are susceptible to interference during lifetime that may provoke transient
errors. One of the major concerns is the radiation effect due to the presence
of neutrons in the atmosphere and of protons, electrons and heavy ions in
space. Neutron interacts with the material provoking secondary energized
particles that can provoke soft errors.
Proton, electron and heavy ions may ionize directly the material
provoking soft errors. The objective of this workshop is to discuss
commercial of the shelf (COTS) FPGAs for aerospace applications, radiation
effects results in FPGAs, soft error rate (SER) of FPGAs under radiation
environment and mitigation techniques to radiation effects targeting the
aerospace market. Topics of the FSP Workshop include, but are not limited
to: - Radiations
effects in FPGAs - Fault
tolerant techniques for FPGAs - Use
of COTS FPGAs in aerospace applications - Experimental
data of FPGAs under radiation - FPGA
embedded processors under radiation - Fault
injection in FPGAs
Perspective authors are invited to submit original
contributions (up to six pages). All papers should be submitted in PDF file
format following the standard IEEE conference template (http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html).
All submissions have to be sent via the conference
management system EasyChair. Please set up your own personal account if
you do not already own an EasyChair account.
Accepted papers will be included in an ePrint proceedings volume with Open Access. Every
accepted paper must have at least one author registered to the workshop by
the time the camera-ready paper is due. Selected papers will be invited to be
part of a proposal Book: ÒFPGAs for Aerospace ApplicationsÓ.
We are seeking contributions for presentation as oral
papers (talk) and posters. While you will be asked to indicate
your preferred presentation format when submitting a paper, the program
committee may request an alternative format be considered. The program
committee will allocate the format of presentations, taking into account the
preference of authors and the balance of the program.
Submission deadline: June 30, 2014 |
