Requirements Engineering connects OntoKG’s research and development activities to the needs of industrial users. This area identifies use cases, develops scenarios and competency questions, and translates domain challenges into requirements that guide ontology modeling, knowledge extraction, information retrieval, and system integration. Working with domain specialists and project partners, it helps clarify what users need to know, which data and relationships are required, and what constitutes a useful and verifiable answer. Its activities also support the evaluation of prototypes through representative questions, demonstrations, and user feedback, revealing gaps between technical capabilities and operational needs. Within OntoKG, this area provides a common basis for aligning the research fronts and assessing their practical relevance, with particular attention to accelerating the identification and analysis of incidents that may affect production capacity.
