There is a consensus among the Roboticists that robots will co-exist with humans. Most of the robots are being developed to improve human life. However a question that appears naturally is : are there any collateral effect not foreseen yet? We know children need human interaction during their early age otherwise, their cognitive and brain development will be severe prejudiced! The same can occur with elderly people! The lack of constant human interaction can speed up the appearance of dementia problems. The search for these questions and answers are very important to guide the development of robotic systems that will interact with us in the future. This project is conducted by IEEE SA in the “The Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in the Design of Autonomous Systems”. Edson Prestes is Affective Committee Member in this initiative.
