Palestra Prof. Sebastiaan von Solms

Na terça-feira, dia 31 de março, as 15h, o Prof. Sebastiaan von Solms da University of Johannesburg, ministrará a palestra ”An Architecture to Cyber Secure the Cyber Space of a Country”, no Anfiteatro do Centro de Eventos do Instituto de Informática UFRGS prédio 43413(67).

Title: An Architecture to Cyber Secure the Cyber Space of a Country

Abstract

This talk will identify some of the core components which should be part of a country’s Cyber Security Architecture to secure the country’s cyber space. These components will then be put together in a architectural design. The resulting architecture can then be used as a reference tool to evaluate the present cyber security situation in a specific country. It will also be presented some slides about the Computer Science Research at the University of Johannesburg.

Prof Sebastiaan H (Basie) von Solms is a Research Professor in the Academy for Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Johannesburg in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is also the Director of the Centre for Cyber Security at the University of Johannesburg (adam.uj.ac.za/csi).
Prof von Solms specializes in research and consultancy in the area of Information and Cyber Security, Critical Information Infrastructure Protection, Cyber Crime and other related cyber aspects. He had written and presented more than 130 papers regarding this field – most of which have been presented at international research conferences and/or published in international subject journals. In addition, he has supervised more than 120 post graduate students in the ICT field. He has a B rating awarded by the National Research Foundation of South Africa. Such a rating indicates an internationally recognized researcher as evaluated by international peers. His personal home page is at http://adam.uj.ac.za/~basie
Prof von Solms is the immediate Past President of IFIP, the International Federation for Information Processing (www.ifip.org).
He is a Fellow of the Computer Society of South Africa, and a Fellow of the British Computer Society, a Fellow of the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre of the University of Oxford, and a Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP).
