O prof. Ricardo Reis recebeu oficialmente em 21 de dezembro, em evento virtual desde a Austria, o IFIP Fellow Award, por suas contribuições em métodos de projeto aplicados em VLSI-SoC e pela construção de uma comunidade científica na área. O evento foi em comemoração aos 60 anos da IFIP (International Federation on Information Processing).

É o terceiro ano em que é concedido o IFIP Fellow Award, sendo que o Prof. Reis é o primeiro brasileiro a receber a premiação, e o primeiro em sua área de atuação (Computer Systems Technology, que corresponde ao Comitê Tecnico 10 da IFIP).

O  IFIP Fellow Award tem a seguinte descrição: “The most prestigious IFIP’s technical distinction is the title of IFIP Fellow, which is conferred by the IFIP General  Assembly on a current or past member of an IFIP body (e.g. WG, TC, GA, Domain Committee, IP3) in recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of information processing, in the role of a Technical Leader, Scientist, Engineer, or Educator. “

Em 2001, o Prof. Reis recebeu o IFIP Silver Core Award (in recognition of significant achievements of the recipient  that are important from the point of view of the mission and goals of IFIP).
